I created a zombie board (someone else is running it) and it sounded all really cool. It still is, but we've come across a little glitch. People get bored with running from zombies all day; they need something else. And when you have a board that's just starting off with people who don't really know each other, it's difficult to nail down a solid plot that won't collapse if someone disappears. Our plot involved the government creating all this chaos, but in order to make a gov't character, you have to have 50 posts on a civilian account; this is because oftentimes people make a character and leave before doing anything, so the admin and I wanted to make sure that those who are gov't members will stick around. Now--haha--I'm the only one with a gov't member. I alone can't make the plot start moving. My question: What can I do to add more horror, more survival, and more sheer terror? In a survival horror board, you can't really stop moving. But I'm finding myself bored with two of my threads even though there's nothing wrong with them--they're just doing the exact same thing: running from zombies. I was thinking of adding in more of a Silent Hill-esque twist to it, but there's a catch. I was on a board awhile ago that was SH-based. I was also banned from this board. I do not want people to think that I am stealing ideas from this board even though their board wasn't entirely original. For example, the scariest part in SH movie is when it suddenly turns dark and the monsters come out. But that was something they did on their board, too. (I was banned before it happened, though.) Further, I don't want to get too Resident Evil-y. As much as I love RE, I don't need STARS members or Umbrella running around. ![]() Suggestions? What should I throw into the plot to make it more exciting and to increase its longevity? |
Will to Live: a "real life" roleplay where psychotic characters run amok. It's not unusual to come across a human who thinks he's a werewolf, a girl with split personalities, or a guy who looks exactly like six other people on campus. Dare you enter the insanity?

Maybe let some people become scientists that try to find a cure, they could be on a location in the air, like some kind of flying ship. They're working against the government. Regular civilians could on random be let on to the scientists ship, when found by they're field scientists. Those field scientists are looking for recently infected, but not yet turned zombies, so they can secure then and make experiments on saving their lives. But they also take in some non-turned survivors to help with their experiments. Don't know if that is too much like the umbrella organization though. They're meant to be good guys trying to save humanity shortly put. If you think it's a good idea go ahead and use it XD |

I like that. ^^ The only problem is that I don't have enough members to actually create a plot like that. But that's neat, especially the flying ship. Haha. |

You could also have areas with human tribes living in trees, since the ground is to dangerous due to zombies... That depends if the zombies are god like and can climb or not, of course. |

Ah, Xar, I think you're thinking a little too advanced. The zombies have just attacked. Also, they're slow zombies. Someone on another site suggested that nature goes wild. (Nature Gone Wild: Uncut Edition.) So I'm thinking that the grass grows rapidly and some blades develop spikes and then man-eating venus fly traps emerge. Also, all the rats run into the middle of the street at the same time, and randomly die. Freaky. Suggestions = magical. |

One thing is the survivors need supplies and weapons. Weapons could be found at a sporting goods store or armory. The supplies could be found at a Walmart or other retailer. Why not have the zombies there waiting in the dark? Make things more surreal. Terror can be something mundane suddenly changed. Think Hitchcock not Halloween. In the game, are the players playing themselves or avatars with special skills? Love the idea with the rats and the plants. Instead of a virus, it sounds like a magical arifact might be responsible for what has happened. Something is discovered at a remote dig. The local museum sponsored the dig and is examing the items. They finds something that should not have been found. Sorry if I am being random. I just really like the idea of a horror rpg. |

Hey, no worries. Random is totally cool by me. Unfortunately this isn't supposed to be my board. I mean, I created it, then I handed it to someone else to run. That was the deal. But he is never there and he rarely RPs, so now I'm trying to make it go. ): It sucks. There's lots of potential, but I can't do it on my own. As far as the characters, they're all . . . characters. I never thought that people would ever RP themselves. I have a grand total of 5 characters, three male and two female, ranging in age from 14 to 45. Plus several awesome NPCs. I'm trying to take the emphasis off the zombies because there's only so many times you can have them lurking in the dark. Right now, I have them attacking my blind guy in Costco (I'm a really mean person, by the way, and I do horrible things to my characters). Which is, you know, the dark when you can't see. I like the idea of the artifact, though.
